Member of the E-Levy Technical Committee outlines all E-Levy transactions.

Mr. Isaac Kobbinah Amoako, member of the E-Levy Technical Committee.

A member of the E-Levy Technical committee and a Principal Revenue Officer, Project Management Unit at the GRA, Isaac Kobina Amoako has explained vividly all the transactions to be affected by the E-Levy.

Speaking on TheKeyPoints show on TV3, an Accra-based television station this Saturday, April 16, 2022, Mr. Amoako clarified the dilemma most Ghanaians have been facing concerning the Electronic transaction Levy which will be inducted coming May 2022.

Salaries paid from companies to individual bank accounts no e-levy applies.” He clarified.

Mr. Amoako explained that withdrawals by the Automated teller machines(ATM) and cheques will not be affected

ATM withdrawals do not attract e-levy so we are safe. If you use cheques no e-levy will apply.” He explained.

According to him, online transactions through debit cards and Amazon which are not registered with the Ghana Revenue Authority(GRA) will be affected by the E-Levy.

If you’re doing payment online from your debit card may be through Amazon (it is not registered with the GRA) so you will pay e-levy.

You will always see a prompt when transacting. Once there is a figure you will know that the person is not on the GRA platform hence, you will be charged.” He added.

Mr. Amoako again explained that using the transfer option on the MOMO platform will incur E-Levy, however, using the make payment option will not.

On the Momo platform, there is a distinction between a transfer and a payment. Don’t use transfers to make payments to be on the safer side” He advised

If you transfer from your bank account to Momo you won’t be charged.” Said, Mr. Isaac Kobbina Amoako of the GRA.
