The president of the Republic, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo has appointed former Deputy Minister for Health and former member of Parliament for Ledzokuku constituency, Dr. Bernard Oko Boye as Acting Chief Executive for National Health Insurance Authority(NHIA).
His appointment was announced through a press release issued by the Office of the President and signed by the Chief Of Staff, Hon. Frema Osei-Opare today, April 21, 2022. He replaces former CEO of the authority, Lydia Dsane-Selby. His appointment is in fulfilment of Section 14 (1) of the National Health Insurance Act, 2012 (Act 852).
“Pursuant to Section 14 (1) of the National Health Insurance Act, 2012 (Act 852), I am pleased to inform you that the President has appointed you to act as the Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority (the “Authority”)” The letter stated.
The Chief of Staff Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare again clarified that the appointment is pending the approval of constitutionally required advice from the board of governors of NHIA and his appointment is expected to take effect from May 3, 2022.
“Pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing board of the Authority, given in consultation with the Public services Commission. This appointment takes effect from 3rd May 2022.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Oko Boye is expected to ratify or dismiss his appointment within 14 days of receipt of the letter.
